I was all set on getting Canon 16-35 f4 for R5 but after watching some video reviews of Tamron, I'm having second thoughts. Since I shoot almost all hand held, I find the EF 16-35/4L IS great on both Canon and Sony platforms. I would not swap for a lens of equal IQ, without IS. Yes, the Canon 16-35 is a bit bulky, but yet relatively lightweight.
The first to check out are the Sigma and Tamron. Having an f/2.8 aperture and IS is a rarity. Both work very well and seem relatively parfocal. These are good if you need the faster aperture, perhaps for indoor use. Looking wider, there are the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 and Canon 16-35mm f/4L. LWQR.
